Principal data science architect

WASH Multifamily Laundry Systems

This is a Full-time position in Los Angeles, CA posted December 21, 2019.

The Principal Data Science Architect is responsible for providing the data science/analytics’ technology direction to support the mission of the organization – becoming a data-driven organization.

This position has both strategic and functional management responsibility for all aspects of the data & business intelligence to enhance our ability to make decisions, through trend analysis, modeling A/B scenarios, building and managing data collection and onboarding, cross-channel data integration, data visualization, dashboards, predictive analytics, and data mining, as well as promoting AI concepts through the platform.

This encompasses all phases development, quality assurance, deployment and post-production of the data platform and BI future roadmap projects.Responsibilities:Build and manage a team of data scientists and our offshore BI vendor support team.Develop data roadmap and lead design and delivery of the data science/BI platform to test and experiment with techniques inclusive of advanced analytics, behavioral modeling, and churn capitalizing on new data science approaches that can yield revenue for the business.Establishes actionable KPIs and success metrics across all functions of the organizationAnalyze large data-sets that will enable the development of custom models and algorithms to uncover insights, trends, and patterns in the data, which will be useful in availing informed courses of actionEstablish SDLC standards, policies and procedures for the data platform from an application, middleware, and data including development, QA and deployment best practices, for in-house and outsource.Develop & deploy scalable data software systemsInstill and establish data modeling and best analytics tools for faster delivery of analytics and BI for the business.Ensure availability of systems and work closely with the infrastructure team to meet defined SLA’s for business operationsComply with all deliverables, processes, and guidelines from internal departments such as legal, Internal Audit and Operations Control GroupManage executive summary and procurement process for acquisition of new equipment, software and lease refreshesResponsible for all Third-Party contracts for outsourced engineering, including overall strategy, financials, contract life cycle, and vendor relationship managementResearch new BI technologies and prototype solutions that can be leveraged to decrease costs and increase performanceLead and facilitate the internal BI Data Governance team (with other data scientists/data business analysts) to effectively inventory data assets, define measurement criteria, and manage and track progress towards having a data set that is accurate and reliable.

Ensure data is defined, understand and aligned throughout the chain of custody; from the creators to consumers of data.Collaborate regularly with various teams, onshore or offshore. Develop, analyze, and modify processes, data structures, and models.Ensure data integrity is understood, mapped and documented for measures from the data producers to the data consumers.Design and develop new Visualization modules/dashboards (i.e.

Tableau) for existing and new data analytics views.Make data-driven decisions and recommendations.Provides senior level leadership to subordinates including assigning and managing work, monitoring performance, and conducting performance appraisalsFoster teamwork and cross functional collaboration between all IT teams, and Business teams to achieve a high degree of customer satisfactionMentor, direct and evaluate team members to maximize engagement and develop breadth and depth of technical and management skillsControls budgets; ensures financials and staffing levels are in line with approved budget on an ongoing basisRequirements:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering or computer science or equivalent experience preferred10+ years’ experience in BI/Data management position and coding skills10+ years’ experience with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft BI stack (e.

g., SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS), SAP Business Objects, Hadoop, Spotfire, Tableau, or Crystal Reports.5-10 years’ hands on experience with SQL, R, SAS, Python, Redshift, PostgresSQL, Vertica, or equivalent programming languages preferred, experience with multidimensional modeling and development, designing and developing data analysis/reporting solutions.5 10 years of AI /predictive analytics experienceAbility to leverage data and analytics to build new systems and productsKnowledge of A/B testing, experimental design, and general statistical modeling.Excellent communication, conceptual, critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving abilities and organizational skillsExperience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification and methodology development.Ability to process map data measures to understand the data integrity chain from the producers of data to the consumers of data.Ability to facilitate and communicate well with other business and data team stakeholders to translate their needs into technology requirements.Strong systems analysis, problem solving and design skills.
