Our employees are not only part of history, they’re making history.Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Sector is seeking a Senior Principal Electromechanical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Mechanisms & Deployable Products Department in Redondo Beach, CA.Roles & Responsibilities:Guide the successful completion of major programs in a technical leadership rolePossess technical responsibility for complex products comprised of multiple configured itemsRepresent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projectsSpearhead technical specifications, conceptual designs, trade studies, detail designs, procedures, reportsInteract with senior staff on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizationsCollaborate with suppliers and external partners for technology and business development needsLead preliminary and critical design reviews for peer and customer presentationsCreate and review technical data packages including fabrication, source control, and assembly drawingsProvide engineering management during prototype and production hardware assembly & testProvide as needed engineering leadership to material review boards and failure review boardsContribute significantly to process improvements and knowledge sharing within the organizationWork with agility and minimal direction to complete concurrent program tasks on scheduleEmploy strong interpersonal and communication skills while leading an integrated product teamFailure to obtain results or erroneous decisions would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectivesBasic Qualifications:* B.S.

in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university with 9 years of engineering professional experience; OR M.S degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university with 7 years of engineering professional experience; OR PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university with 4 years of engineering professional experience* 7+ years of consistent use in Creo, Solidworks, NX, or CATIA V5 industry CAD software* 4+ years of experience leading electromechanical or opto-mechanical or mechanisms design* Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) applications per ASME Y.14-5* Candidate must have and be able to maintain an active U.S.

Government security clearance at the Secret level with a background investigation date within 10 yearsPreferred Requirements:* M.S.

degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM technical discipline from an ABET accredited university* Active U.S.

Government security clearance at the Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years, OR an active U.S.

Government SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years* Experience with successful design, development, analysis, and verification of opto-mechanical or mechanized or electro-mechanical subsystems is desirable* Demonstrated application of hardware systems engineering associated with the integration of subsystems into complex Aircraft and/or Spacecraft systems is preferred* Experience with spearheading of process improvements and standardized tools is valuable* Experience with ENOVIA/SMARTEAM Product Lifecycle Management is beneficialNorthrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
