Enterprise Architect – Portfolio

The Portfolio Architect plays an integral role in building a holistic view and roadmap of the company’s technology strategy, processes, and information technology roadmap.

The architect partners with both business and technology groups to ensure that the proposed technical solutions align with the company’s overall objectives, mission and vision, and develops plan to enable delivery. 


Key Responsibilities  


  • Builds the long-term strategic roadmap for LOB/portfolio IT systems architecture in support of business capabilities. 

  • Works with Principal Enterprise Architect, Business and IT leaders to define and develop LOB future state architectures, roadmaps and migration strategies as a basis for focusing IT activities to maximize business value. 

  • Partners with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions.  NRM: Defines strategic NFRs 

  • Leads the design and modeling of tactical architectures for delivery, development, and support of projects 

  • Provides technical leadership for programs or across a project portfolio.

    Ensures that business system development efforts comply with strategic architecture principles, standards, and models.   

  • Partners with other LOB architects to provide a scalable and adaptable architectural solution. 

  • Works with peers and IT management to Develop and maintain policies, standards, guidelines (guiding principles), reference architectures / patterns, decision frameworks and metrics to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company. 

  • Promotes the use of a shared infrastructure and application roadmap to reduce costs and improve how information flows. 

  • Manages and facilitates architecture and technology decision processes to evaluate project proposals for architectural fit. 

  • Develop roadmaps to align IT priorities with business partner needs. 

  • Mentors and develops the next generation of architects.   




  • Experience building enterprise architecture roadmaps and EA methodologies  

  • Experience in architecting end to end business solutions  

  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering 

  • Experience in a multi-vendor and offshore model is a plus 

  • Experience with actuarial domain is a plus 

  • NRM: Financial Service, insurance experience, architecting in an agile environment  




  • Ability to “think big” and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology refresh and hype 

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with business and technical groups 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Strong organization skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to build alignment among many stakeholders 

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology 

  • Ability to establish, implement, and apply appropriate IT standards to meet business requirements 


Education Requirement 


  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field 


Technology knowledge and Experience: 


  • Enterprise Architecture methodology and framework, such as TOGAF, Zachman etc. 

  • Azure or AWS.

    Azure is preferred. 

  • Micro services architecture, Kubernetes containers.  

  • Java, Open JDK, .NET C#, Spark 

  • Angular, HTML5 with Responsive Design 

  • REST, API Gateways. 

  • NoSQL and Relational Data Stores (Oracle/SQL Server). 

  • Data analytics – ADLS, HDI or Databricks is a plus. 

  • UML or any Modeling tool. 

  • Security principles, authentication, authorization and encryption. 

  • Experience or knowledge in Data Architecture and Data Science is a plus. 

  • Experience or comfort operating in a distributed, non-homogeneous technology environment. 


Note: The Standard is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary for this role when hiring a Colorado resident.

The salary for employees working in Colorado in this role is listed below. The Standard’s package also includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off.  

  • Please note, eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan.

    Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance. 

Salary Range:


– $215,700.00
