Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Software Developer is responsible for the following duties:Works closely with Product Management team to translate requirements into technical designsArchitects and develops highly scalable applications with cutting edge technologiesCollaborates with team of developers and engineers to upgrade existing systems to latest technologiesPerforms code reviews and enforce coding standardsTakes lead on engineering critical coding effortsContributes to overall architectural decisionsImproves engineering efforts by applying industry best practicesDetermines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutionsDocuments and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear codePrepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programmingImproves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and proceduresObtains and licenses software by obtaining required information from vendors; recommending purchases; testing and approving productsProtects operations by keeping information confidentialProvides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issuesDevelops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycleMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required2+ years of experience designing and developing LAMP web applications2+ years of experience with PHP52+ years of experience with MySQL 52 years of experience with PHP frameworks like Zend and Symfony is idealSolid experience with web services, SOAP, RESTIn-depth experience with service and application integrationsSome experience with Java, Perl, Python, C, C++ is a desiredProven experience with high performance MySQL and MemCacheAdvanced working knowledge of OOP conceptsComprehensive knowledge of high-volume LAMP architectureProficient with PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAXExperience with SVN, Mantis, Rally or other source control, bug tracking, and project management toolsKnowledge of Continuous Integration process and Agile developmentKnowledge of SEO and web analytics a plusWorking ConditionsIndoor, environmentally controlled conditionsIn contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone, or otherwise) frequently, including working in teamsPerform job tasks in slightly close physical proximity to other peoplePhysical RequirementsRemain in the seated position, in front of a computer, for extensive periods of timeThe ability to listen and to understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesPerform work using computers and electronic devicesAbility to read and understand information and ideas presented in writingLift an object between approximately 10 and 25 poundsClarity of vision at 20 inches or lessExpressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quicklyAbout Search OpticsSearch Optics is a rapidly growing technology company with offices in Detroit, San Diego, Toronto, Montreal and São Paulo.
