IT Solution Architect Applications – Latrobe, PA
 

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for the vision setting and execution of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of collaboration products (including but not limited to SharePoint, Yammer, Exchange, and OneDrive) and related productivity-based solutions.

 Coordinate this with the Teams product owner and direct manager.

 They will also lead the effort to expand our offerings to all Kennametal employees and ensure our Digital Workplace productivity tools are meeting needs across the globe.  The architect will work with technical team members and stakeholders to ensure success of the product feature delivery and adoption, while providing technical leadership and innovation to internal and external clients.  Please note that this role will work with a Teams product owner, responsible for these aspects of the Teams space.

 

This person will grow to be the Kennametal top level technical expert in IT Collaboration applications (SharePoint, Teams, Groups, Yammer, etc.), covering all aspects of a given technology.

Responsible for analyzing and translating business information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives.

Must be able to review and solve IT application and performance issues through detailed analysis, trouble shooting, and collaboration covering all aspects of a given technology.

Works with cross functional (enterprise architecture, application and infrastructure) teams to produce an optimal, high level, conceptual design for the project.

Provides technical leadership on complex projects resulting in appropriate implementation.

Manages the technical product life cycle, including introducing new functionality as well as support maintenance of the implemented technology.  This role will develop and implement the governance process needed to support the environment, specifically around other applications available to integrate with the tool (i.e.

available in Teams)

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop the supporting details of the technical strategy within the assigned area of responsibility and manage the technology life cycle.

  • Develop and maintain the Collaboration/Microsoft Technology Roadmap including the deployment strategy for the related applications.
  • Along with Team Product Owner, develop, implement, and manage a governance process to support the fully integrated cloud office environment.  Including the management of a Champion network throughout Kennametal. 
  • Drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Office 365 product (in conjunction with the Teams product owner)
  •  Ensure adoption of these enterprise tools throughout Kennametal
  • Align Office 365 products with the overall IT enterprise architecture vision and goals
  • Serve as the product owner for Office 365 product or product features from evaluating the preview to rolling it out to the users worldwide.

    Make key decisions on priorities and design and work to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Office 365 suite of applications and their capabilities and stay abreast of product evolution
  • Proactively solve project issues promptly and effectively
  • Provide periodic communications to project sponsors, stakeholders, and management
  • Champion global collaboration and knowledge sharing best practices
  • Prioritize, improvise, and adapt technologies to address changing business needs and issues
  • Partner with business and leaders to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing Office 365 capabilities
  • As Architect of the Collaboration space (Includes solutioning for Teams, SharePoint, and related applications):
    • Develop tactical plans to achieve business results and provide feedback and input on strategy

      –  Be the “product manager” from a technical perspective.

      Work with Business Partners and other personnel to manage the collection, prioritization and implementation of technical enhancements and change requests

    • As required to support Kennametal’s strategic direction, keep up to date with new technologies by attending, and collecting information from others who attend vendor demonstrations, user groups etc.

      and determine best fit for Kennametal.

    • Knowledge of specialized field or expertise.

      Oversees execution of key cross-functional projects in support of strategy.

    • Overall understanding of business objectives and influence of department on achievement of those objectives.
    • Develops the tactical plan for the area of accountability as a reference point to execute strategy.
    • May build and maintain relationships with constituents outside Company to support business needs.
    • Has responsibility for making decisions and managing risks that would have little or no impact on the assets of the Company.
    • Provides input into attainment of strategy for area of accountability.
    • Identifies emerging issues relevant to area of accountability and adjusts execution plan to address issues

Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates

  • 5-6 years of hands-on Microsoft Experience (Exchange, Skype for Business, SharePoint,…)
  • 3+ years of progressive experience supporting Exchange Online, SharePoint, Skype for Business/Teams and Microsoft O365
  • Hands-on expertise of working with a complex Active Directory infrastructure environment and the requirement of strictly following standards, procedures, and processes
  • Expertise in coordination and escalation to Microsoft support and ability to coordinate with first and third-party software vendors as needed for resolution of business-impacting problems (preferred)
  • Strong Experience with SharePoint solution design utilizing Power Platform
  • Ability to understand and design a large solution upon technical, application and business requirements
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • O365 Certification is a plus
