Airframe and powerplant mechanic

This is a Full-time position in San Diego, CA posted December 13, 2019.

Job Summary: A&P Mechanic will perform general airframe and power plant services, repairs, and overhauls of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and Rotax engines to ensure that UAS are in good mechanical condition and safe for flight.

This position typically works under general supervision and direction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, coordinates, directs, and/or performs maintenance and modifications assignments involving specifications for, and design changes or alterations to, UAS, engines, systems, components, and field or shop equipment.

Provides technical assistance as required.

Completes Maintenance Inspections and In Progress Inspections.

Performs modifications to UAS structures, systems, or components, following drawings, engineering orders and technical publications.

Coordinate and assist in the execution of ground and flight operations/test events.

Tests aircraft to determine compliance with specification and operational suitability.

Acts as Crew Chief for flights with customers, government officials, or other personnel to exhibit aircraft performance, flying qualities and system capabilities.

Performs inspections and general overhaul and repairs or modifications requiring replacement and assembly of parts.

Minimum Job Requirements:Two year college degree or military technical training or equivalent with Airframe and Power Plant certification license plus a minimum of four years experience required.

This position also requires an understanding of integration of electronics to the aircraft system.

Previous UAS experience is required.

Must be able to read engineering drawings, blueprints and intrepid/translate instructions to specific maintenance mechanics/technicians.

High attention to detail and strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential to this role.

Must have the ability to obtain SECRET Security Clearance Level or above.

Willing to travel up to 40% CONUS and have ability to deploy with Flight Team is essential.

Perform multiple maintenance disciplines in an integrate workforce environment that consists of Military, Government, Civil Service and other contractors.
