We are seeking a Medication Technician to administer medication and maintain medication records.

As a Med Tech, you will be responsible for maintaining the med room and medication stock, administering medication according to physician orders, following all Quail Park medication policies, and auditing medication administration records.

As a member of the Care team, you will also pitch in with other resident care by understanding service plans, assisting with daily activities, and observing residents for behavioral or physical changes. Benefits offered:Paid time offHealth insurance (for full time) Dental insurance (for full time) Retirement benefits or accountsEducation assistance or tuition reimbursementWorkplace perks such as meal and coffeeVariable schedule options Minimum Eligibility Requirements:CNA, or previous experience working with the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting preferredAbility to take blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, and O2 Sat or ability to learnExperience reading medical terminology preferredMust enjoy working with seniorsAbility to establish effective relationships with residents, family members and team membersMust be able to read, comprehend, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors and other team membersProficiency in basic computer skills, including Word and ExcelAbility to represent the community in a positive and professional manner Must meet all health-related requirements pertaining to state licensureMust maintain current CPR/First Aid credentialsMust maintain current Food Handlers credentialsMust maintain annual Continuing Education Credits Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) with or without reasonable accommodationMust successfully complete required Medication Technician curriculum Subject to pre-employment screening including physical, drug and TB testing and criminal background checkEssential Functions:Medication Administration Administer medication appropriately and timely according to regulations, physician orders and the community’s Policies and ProceduresEnsure that medication is logged and centrally stored, maintained as needed, and all medication refills are ordered in a timely manner to ensure medications are available for each residentIs familiar with and consistently adheres to all medication-related policies and procedures, including those concerning appropriate documentation and medication accountabilityConducts monthly audits, which include label checks, expiration checks, and start date checksNotifies supervisor of concerns or problems with orders/MARs in a timely mannerAssists Licensed Nurse printing MARs and reviews as requestedUpdates MARs in computer with new orders/changes in the absence of the Licensed NurseWorks with pharmacies and doctors’ offices to obtain correct orders and refills Carries out objective charting within their scope of practice in residents notes on a daily basis Carries out basic first aid on a daily basis Maintains a clean and tidy medication room Resident CareReviews and understands all resident individual service plans Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and ambulation, as specified in residents’ individual service plansEngages residents in meaningful conversation and socialization while providing medication supervision assistance and personal care assistance Observes residents for changes in physical, emotional, mental and social condition, unusual symptoms, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurse and/or supervisorCommunicates with Resident Care Team about changes with residents , contacts families as neededCompletes all forms to include but not limited to incident reports, and written and computerized documentation, as necessary for communication of resident information with other shifts and with the licensed nurses, Executive Director/Administrator and other members of the Resident Care Team Assists with resident meal times in dining room, serves meals in accordance with proper serving technique and ensures that food is presented in an attractive manner as neededEncourages residents to participate in scheduled activities and outings, and assists with those activities as needed Post Mortem care carried out by a Med Tech�? for a resident who passes away in the community under hospiceActs as a role model to team members to ensure quality care and monitoring of residents HousekeepingMakes resident beds, empties apartment trash, and tidies resident apartment daily and as needed or requested Turns down resident beds in the evening if requestedChanges resident linens and towels according to community laundry schedule, and as needed or as requestedMaintains resident clothing and closet in a neat and orderly manner Assists with resident laundry as necessary Notifies Housekeeping team members of spills and soiled areas of carpets and furniture; assists with clean-up as needed.

If no Housekeeper is on duty, cleans up spills and soiled areas immediately Assists in cleaning walkers, wheelchairs, and other resident equipment, as neededAssists with other housekeeping duties as assigned JB.0.00.LN
