Survey technician


This is a Full-time position in San Francisco, CA posted December 18, 2019.

LOCATION: San Francisco or San Jose, CA (and possibly Sacramento, CA)ALTERNATIVE TITLE: Network Utilities Field Project Associate, Field Data CollectorREPORTS TO: Program Manager Network UtlitiesJOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Work with Project Managers and Construction Managers with maintaining data integrity in internal databasefor each project through all phases of site acquisition and construction.
• Assist Network Utilities Team in Project Milestone actualization in internal database
• Work with deliverables and upload to internal databases as needed.
• Assist with photo annotation and technical tools
• Use database to generate and manage relevant Network Utility reports to support Network Utility Team,Project Leads and Senior Management.
• Complete projects and perform necessary off-site tasks as assigned by the Network Utilities Team or seniormanagement.
• Locate, sketch and document detailed information of OSP facilities: cables, poles ground structures,terminals, manholes and equipment
• Prepare site survey route maps using mapping tools
• Collect precise survey measurements using company standard surveying instruments
• Assemble collected field data and ensure documentation is prepared and available to be distributed toappropriate team members.

This work includes such duties as preparing survey reports; preparing all routine documents necessary for the completion of a site survey and or construction drawings. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1-2 years’ experience of general engineering/construction experience or equivalent education
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite programs
• Must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record
• Must have good math skills and be detail oriented
• Must have legible handwriting
• The ability to walk at least 2 miles carrying equipment in all types of weather
• Must have good communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
• The ability to travel other states for work as needed DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
• Knowledge of easement, right-of-way, and permit documents is preferred
• Experience and understanding of outside plant construction techniques
• Measure attachment heights, span distances, and structure dimensions
• Measure distances from existing/proposed OSP facilities
• Take measurements, field notes, and produce sketches for TCP design
