Embedded system engineer

This is a Full-time position in Palo Alto, CA posted July 11, 2019.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering the Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible to design, implement, test and continuously improve the embedded software on our NXV 3D Printer.

The goal is to create scalable and optimized software systems.

: Designing and implementing software of embedded devices and systems Designing, developing, coding, testing and debugging system software Maintaining embedded system software on Nexa devices Interface with hardware design and development Specifying hardware and developing embedded software for image processing and image display to LCD Analyzing and enhancing efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources Integrate and validate new product designs Support software QA and optimize I/O performance Provide post production support Assess third party and open source software Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment.

Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential embedded system projects and studies.

Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.

Supervising or training project team members.

Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation.

Working with a variety of technicians.

: 5+ years of experience in the design, development and deployment of highly reliable software systems BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Able to effectively optimize code paths across many software components Proficient in embedded C, C/C++ Proficiency in hardware description languages, ideally Verilog, for FPGA programming A working knowledge of python is preferred Circuit board design experience preferred Encourage and help implement software engineering best practices like continuous builds, testing,etc Strong documentation and writing skills
