Litigation attorney

This is a Full-time position in Cerritos, CA posted December 31, 2019.

PURPOSE: The Litigation Attorney’s primary purpose is to contribute to the goals of the organization by servicing our growing client base in cases requiring arbitration and/or litigation. This role is an ideal fit for someone who is a natural negotiator, highly motivated in the discovery process and is driven towards success on behalf of their client. This position requires strong communication and follow-up skills that support a well-organized yet adaptable work style. Because we expect our attorneys to support the firm’s efforts in business development, this person must also be comfortable engaging in marketing efforts to bring additional business to the firm.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Researching and analyzing complex legal issues and submitting briefs to the supervising attorney Heavy engagement in the discovery process Organizing, reviewing, and creating relevant documentation and exhibits Prepare for and appear in court, arbitration or other judicial proceedings on behalf of the client Presenting well-reasoned arguments to the judicial body Negotiating with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes, including settlement conferences Anticipating and mitigating potential legal issues for a client and developing strategies to avoid areas of risk and prevent costly litigation proceedings in the future Compile data and prepare/update spreadsheets and other reports Participate fully in meetings, trainings and team building events Involved in business development activities that market the firm and generate new revenue Adhere to the concept of team, aligning to and supporting the firm’s vision, mission, goals and core values Additional responsibilities, as directed by leadership SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited law school Licensed to practice law in the State of California Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in litigation Excellent verbal and written communications skills Highly-organized and able to prioritize and plan efficiently Strong project management and multitasking skills Extremely accurate and thorough Commitment to continuous learning
