Senior scientist, downstream process development

GigaGen seeks a talented, highly motivated Senior Scientist, Downstream Process Development.

The successful candidate will support the expression and purification of antibodies and antibody derivatives for early in vitro and in vivo efficacy studies.

This will include extensive lab-work to develop protocols for the expression and purification of novel formats, as well as planning and management of routine projects.

This position will initially work closely with current scientists and techs, with the expectation of eventually taking over daily management of the protein core and scaling up current processes.

This position will report to the VP of Process Development.Tasks include but are not limited to:Develop protocols for expression and purification of antibodies and antibody derivatives, including antibodies of different isotypes, bispecific antibodies, and antibody fusionsOptimize and implement workflows for routine protein expression, purification, and documentationDevelop and implement protocols for protein characterizationMentor and train junior lab members in routine expression and purification tasksTroubleshoot and improve processes when neededMaintain LC instrumentation and help plan for future expansionManage protein purification and expression projects, including developing proposals, organizing RAs, and analyzing and presenting dataQualifications and Skills:Ph.D.

in biochemistry, chemical engineering, structural biology or a related field and 2 years of industry experience OR BS/MS with at least 5 years of relevant industry experienceExtensive experience with antibody purification is a must, including affinity, polishing, and formulation techniquesExperience with FPLC and HPLC operation and troubleshootingProficiency in protein analytical techniques, including SDS-PAGE, western blot, SEC, ELISA, affinity measurement, and flow cytometryFamiliarity with protein expression platforms, expression construct design, and mammalian cell cultureInterest in project management is required, prior experience is a plusAble to communicate with a variety of individuals and deliver results in a timely fashionGigaGen is an equal opportunity employer.
