This is a Full-time position in San Diego, CA posted December 12, 2019.

As our organization continues to grow, our San Diego, CA team is in search of a Production Underwriter.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of Underwriting experience with exposure to both new business and renewal underwriting.

Developing and maintaining sales representative, agent and broker relationships is a key component of this role.

It is expected that our new team member will acknowledge and adhere to underwriting rules and guidelines, compliance laws and regulations including ERISA laws and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties: Develop relationships with your own agents, solicitation and targeting submissions.

Work independently of the Domestic Team to solicit, underwrite & binding of your own business.

Compile and send submissions directly or indirectly to the carriers for a quote.

Notify and offer agents various coverage’s like Auto Liability, Cargo, Physical Damage, General Liability and Excess markets when agent submits a quote request.

Place coverage directly, or indirectly with Insurers in accordance with best industry practices, and in compliance with standard licensing and regulatory requirements.

Provide leadership to secure renewal business, and to solicit new business opportunities for the agency.

Gather and organize information from agents, including: phone calls, emails, faxes & other forms of communication from those agents regarding applications for insurance coverage and all supporting documents that are required.

Review personally, or delegate internally to co-workers, and follow up to ensure that incoming insurance applications are accurate and complete.

Evaluate and determine risk acceptability, pricing and coverage for Commercial Trucking and Transportation business risk in a manner known to be consistent with industry best practices.

Requirements and Qualifications: 5 years of insurance underwriting experience, 3 years in trucking industry a plus Valid CA P&C License Must possess the ability to appropriately apply loss development and advanced loss analysis concepts to achieve optimal pricing of a risk.

Must possess the ability to creatively utilize coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance on individual risks to achieve company objectives.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook and Excel.

Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and through email with agents, carriers and WGI team members
