Workforce development specialist

Back on My Feet

This is a Full-time position in San Francisco, CA posted December 16, 2019.

Back on My Feet is a fast paced, innovative organization led by a former Strategy Consulting Executive from a leading firm.

The majority of our senior leadership team originate from corporate backgrounds and we are entirely privately funded through corporations, foundations and individuals.

Our National Board includes many industry leaders from a variety of corporations including Accenture, AT&T and Marriott.

We are relentlessly focused on improving the organization’s impact and constantly looking at new ways to bring more supporters to the mission. Based in San Francisco, the Workforce Development Specialist (WDS) will report to the Program Director.

The Workforce Development Specialist is primarily responsible for life-cycle management of members in the program as they move from intake through our Next Steps program and ultimately to employment.

Specifically, the WDS will successfully track member participation in program activities, coordinate with employment and referral partners (working closely with the Program Director as needed/appropriate), and communicate with staff on the progress of members in the Next Steps portion of Back on My Feet. The WDS will be responsible for member goal plans around employment, education, professional training and housing.

The WDS will assist with the engagement and management of BoMF volunteers (individuals who run with our members experiencing homelessness).

They also assist in coordinating program events and BoMF Alumni members. Specific Responsibilities will include: 
· Ensure the chapter is meeting programmatic goals: Back on My Feet’s primary program goal is to help members obtain and maintain employment.

All programmatic activities should help support that goal.
· Recruitment and onboarding of new members: The WDS is responsible for conducting regular recruitment activities at partner facilities to ensure sufficient member population to meet our employment goals.
· Member case management: The WDS is responsible for regular meetings with active members (expected caseload 25 to 35 active members) to ensure members are making progress toward their employment goals.
· Next Steps: The WDS is responsible for executing Back on My Feet’s Next Steps program, which includes workshops on financial literacy and employment preparation facilitated by corporate partners.

Assist BoMF members with employment services including one-on-one assistance with job searching and application processes, interview preparation, and referrals to employment partners.

Workshop coordination is done in conjunction with the Program Director.
· Managing external partnerships: The WDS, in conjunction with the Program Director, is responsible for building and maintain effective relationship with facility partners, other referral partners (e.g., for training, education, additional workforce development, and/or other resources members would benefit from), employment partners, and BoMF corporate partners as appropriate.
· Data collection: The WDS is responsible for ensuring complete and timely tracking of all relevant data in Salesforce.
· Other program events: The WDS is required to attend 50% of the quarterly member social events and races.

Qualifications & Experience 
· Bachelor’s degree required with two or more years of relevant work experience (working with at-risk or underserved populations).
· Experience in job development, placement and referrals required.
· Ability to develop a strong understanding of the homelessness services landscape as well as the inner-workings of BoMF.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent public presentation skills to a variety of audiences.
· Proficiency with technology required, including CRM or case management software (Salesforce experience highly preferred), Slack, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
