This is a Full-time position in Los Angeles, CA posted December 12, 2019.

The role of the Communications Manager is to lead the day-to-day communications strategy and implementation for the commercial business.

This includes two key areas: Driving the external reputation of LA 2028 and Team USA as a highly valuable property for commercial partners and potential partnersDeveloping and implementing communications strategies and programs to support LA 2028 and Team USA partners Experience in these areas is highly preferred.

We also look for candidates with intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly to round out areas where a candidate may not have depth of experience.

This job description is a general summary of responsibilities and requirements and is not intended to be all-inclusive of the responsibilities and requirements of this position.ResponsibilitiesManage and execute communications plans for the commercial business Develop and write messages that promote and advance key commercial stories about investment, impact and opportunityLead high-profile media relations with top-tier national business and news media, providing regular editorial updates and background briefingsPromote thought leadership through executive communications and organizational positioning using both proven tactics and new ideasWrite speeches, conference keynotes and talking points and develop presentations for high-stakes storytelling opportunitiesBrief and prepare leadership and organization spokespeople for communications opportunities Develop and implement multi-stakeholder communications campaigns that support LA 2028 and Team USA partners Team up with partner communications staff to provide counsel, develop programs and review content to create best-in-class promotions Create and implement regular partner communications for key commercial stakeholders including sponsors, business partners and venuesManage media events from inception to conclusion and support content and communications strategies for other stakeholder events Work with credential press at key global events to communication the LA 2028 and Team USA commercial story Manage executive and commercial social media strategy Support crisis communications planning and issue response relating to the commercial businessMonitor sports business media and share updates on key stories regarding partners and the landscape Strategically share key stories and activations with internal teamsFrequent travel is required for meetings with venues and partners throughout the Los Angeles Metropolitan area and across the U.S.Regular travel to New York for meetings at the U.S.

Olympic and Paralympic Properties officeSome international travel is requiredRegular on-site management of media events including hosting journalists, organizing photo shoots and coordinating media interviews (one-on-ones, group, mixed zone, etc.)After orientation period, requests for flexible work schedule will be considered.Qualifications7+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations or related fieldProven strategic planner and communications campaign success Expert in national business, national news and sports business media landscape Knowledge of sports property positioning and profile building to engage commercial partners Knowledge of dynamic editorial landscape and shifting communications opportunities for organizations Exceptional written communications with clear, concise and impactful storytelling abilities Excellent oral communications and understanding of what comprises a good story Optimistic and collaborative multi-tasker who can manage a dynamic environment with numerous stakeholders Ability to think differently and challenge the status quo Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related fieldPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of sports industry and key players Knowledge of the dynamic social media landscape and new media channels Experience with sponsor and business partner communications Experience working with national and international media at large-scale global events Spokesperson capabilities including ability to quickly address questions under high-pressure scenarios Clear understanding of creative materials in storytelling and experience developing creative content Communications agency and in-house experience Crisis management experience Passion for sportApplication RequirementsALL applications MUST be accompanied by a cover letter!
