Customs brokerage supervisor

What we’re looking for… OEC Group’s Customs Brokerage Department is responsible for the timely submission of entries to U.S.

Customs in order for freight to be released.

We are looking to add a Customs Brokerage Supervisor to manage a small team at our Cerritos office.

Serving as an integral member of the Brokerage team, a successful candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work to meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate has prior experience customs classification and filings as well working in a leadership role.

They will also have the ability to engage with customers as an account manager.

Experience in customs brokerage, including classifying and scheduling cargo with US Customs, is required.

About the Position 50% entry filing / 50% Projects and Client Outreach 301 Protest and PSC filing Client consultations and new account intake including Customs Compliance Audits Preparation of customs entries, including FDA, DOT, FWL, and other government agency declarations.

Process entries within 48 hours of document receipt.

Classification of shipments and preparation of entry documentation Communication with CBP and other government agencies Prioritization of shipments and follow-up Responding to internal and external customs requests Communication with clients and vendors.

Enter shipment and billing data into operational systems Entry transmission and related follow-up Assist with payment requests and customer billing as needed Utilize daily workflow reports General supervision of entry writer team including managing workload of employees and managing employee performance Qualifications Minimum 4 years as a customs entry writer with strong knowledge of cargo classification and filing Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Proficiency with the General Rules of Interpretation; HTSUSA Experience in a supervisory or lead role in the ocean import space Customs Brokerage License preferred but not required; pursuing customs brokerage license preferred Account management skills and the ability to outwardly engage clients Cargowise experience or certification a big plus
