Regional sales director – west

The Regional Sales Director, West owns and is responsible for sales volume achievement and is accountable for regional sales performance, budgetary management and people management within the region.

His/her job is to develop, support, build & drive the sales of tarte, with accountability for achieving sales goals in the region.

Critical to this role is ensuring the timely execution of education, event and sell-through initiatives through call-cycle management, sales analysis, T&E and SET budget management and accountability, strategic decision making, relationship building with retail partners and by managing direct reports to best serve the region’s growth.

The ideal candidate must be a highly regarded sales executive with experience in sales, education & artistry.

Must be an organized, responsible, detail-oriented self-starter and multi-tasker, with strong follow-up and communication skills.

As a regional team leader, candidate must have the ability to set measurable goals with direct reports, create and execute development plans, and provide effective coaching to achieve maximum team results.

Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Primary responsibilities Increase sales and achieve targeted sales growth Facilitate and sustain strong selling environments that hold direct reports and store teams accountable for achieving productivity & service standards Maximize productivity of self and team via call cycle optimization, volume analysis and best use of T&E and SET funds Utilize weekly and monthly performance reports to analyze business and develop strategic plans to increase market share, rank, comp and to pace with brand’s national performance Manage, direct & execute promotional events in the region to optimize sales potential; create and submit event recaps in a timely manner Initiate, prepare for and lead meetings with key store management from store to regional level Build strong business relationships at all levels and leverage Manage information from corporate to deliver to team; be able to communicate necessary information to team efficiently, accurately and concisely Leadership & Education Educate & coach the tarte philosophy within team and at the store level via approved training modules, using make-up artistry and selling techniques to support product knowledge Direct & execute sales-driven seasonal education strategies, manage effective in-store education efforts among direct reports Coordinate and lead new store opening and relocation trainings within region Model hands-on leadership by providing continual learning opportunities, coaching & feedback to strengthen individual & team performance Exhibit knowledge of industry trends and the competition Ability to network, recruit, develop, motivate and retain top SESs and SETs to support teams Create, implement and periodically assess individual development plans for direct reports; analyze and review SEE/SES and SETs for career growth & succession planning Conduct weekly touch-bases with direct reports and team to convey action plans and region performance updates Holds self and team accountable for goal achievement & education results Uphold brand image via personal and team appearance, behavior and professionalism Constantly assess, address and manage performance challenges within region Recommend ideas and best practices to Director of Sales for maximum productivity Inform Director of Sales on competitive trends and activity Operations Prioritize and plan work flow, ie team calendars, business analysis reports, team meetings/calls, call cycle, retailer meetings, etc Meets deadlines on sales, productivity and budget/expenses reporting Manage, allocate and optimize quarterly travel, expense and SET budget; be able to communicate to Director of Sales budget concerns and make smart decisions with company resources Partner with store team, Director of Sales to assess and improve inventory levels Ensure the timely execution of all brand marketing and visual initiatives Evaluate appropriate staffing levels to maximize business opportunities within budgetary parameters Provide ongoing feedback and insights regarding gondola performance, product formula/componentry, artistry tips/tricks Qualifications & required skills Bachelor’s degree and/or comparable 3 5 years of retail management experience, preferably in cosmetics industry Proven multi-store management experience necessary; understanding of and experience working in an open-sell environment Excellent leadership qualities and proven ability to inspire team to achieve sales performance Strong aptitude for product knowledge, brand messaging, artistry and business management Excellent oral, written and presentation skills required Ability to multi-task, prioritize and re-direct activities as necessary Ability to analyze and manage a budget Proficient at sales analysis and strategic planning based on analysis Proficient computer skills a must Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint Self-motivated, committed, tenacious & goal-oriented Energetic and passionate with an entrepreneurial, flexible spirit Positive professional and enthusiastic attitude Ability to travel is required Driver’s license a plus (in most cases a necessity) Flexibility regarding work hours, i.e.
